Why Convert International Grades?
When applying to US universities, graduate schools, scholarships, or jobs, you often need to present your academic record in the US 4.0 GPA format. Different countries use vastly different grading systems — Germany uses a 1–5 scale where 1 is best, the UK uses percentage bands with honor classifications, India uses a 10-point CGPA or percentage, and Australia uses a 7-point descriptive scale.
Our converters use standard equivalency tables accepted by major US institutions including those following WES (World Education Services) and NACES member guidelines. Always verify the exact conversion policy with your target institution, as some schools apply their own formulas.
How the Conversion Works
Each country's grading bands are mapped to the nearest US GPA equivalent. For example, a First Class degree from a UK university (70%+) converts to a 4.0 GPA, equivalent to straight A's in the US system. A German grade of 1.3 maps to a 3.7 (A-) because the German 1.0–1.5 range corresponds to the highest academic achievement.
